Professor Alexandra Klass (University of Minnesota Law School) teaches and writes in the areas of energy law, environmental law, natural resources law, tort law, and property law. Her recent scholarly work, published in many of the nation’s leading law journals, addresses regulatory challenges to integrating more renewable energy into the nation’s electric grid, transportation electrification, oil and gas transportation infrastructure, and the use of eminent domain for electric transmission lines and pipelines.

Dr. Gabriel Chan is an associate professor at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs in the Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy (STEP) area. Gabe's research examines policies to stimulate innovation in energy technologies and mitigate global climate change in the United States, China, and internationally. Gabe's research blends economic methods and theory with a broader set of social science and technical knowledge.

prior work

Both Professor Klass and Dr. Chan have written extensively about energy law, policy, and technology issues across the United States. Their forthcoming article on the role of rural electric cooperatives in clean energy transitions (and the subject of this talk) was digested on The Rural Review here:
